Creator and Author Karen McHale
Karen McHale is a chemical engineer and volunteer firefighter with the Clear Creek Fire Authority in Idaho Springs, Colorado. She is on the wildfire team, drives the ambulance, and helped compile the emergency operating procedures in her County. She has worked on hazard management, mass causality, and pandemic planning and holds several certifications for fire fighting, safety, and management.
There is so much engineering in firefighting and I love helping people. Volunteer departments are always trying to raise money for equipment, trucks and other things we need to operate. I invented a little pillow buddy when my boys were young and I donated them to the fire departments to give to the kids at the accident scene. When I became a firefighter, I realized we could use these buddies to raise money and start training kids. The Fire Station Buddies, Inc now have a marketing plan and are aggressively working to raise money for fire departments in the US. Your kids are going to love the Buddies.
